Preparing for Permit Test

Permit Required Items/Requirements:

• Must be at least 15 1/2 years old.
• Must be enrolled in Driver's Education (students will receive a Student Contract in class which will be used to meet this requirement).
• Birth Certificate (original, not a copy), or US Passport, or current immigration documents
• A parent or legal guardian (if younger than 18 years old). If a parent or legal guardian won't be present at the Department of Public Safety when the student takes their permit test, the student must have an affidavit signed and notarized. 
• Valid documentation of legal residency or proof of citizenship (if student was born outside of the United States).
